Punk in the divided Berlin

As part of the current series of Radio Študent-shows and events on punk, this special episode of Submerge will be all about punk in Berlin in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Especially for the then divided Berlin, the phenomenon of punk has been very diverse, important, and intriguing. Following this, what has been happening in both parts of the city will be analysed by adopting a broad Cold War frame as starting point.

Special attention will be payed to what took place in Kreuzberg (West Berlin) and Prenzlauer Berg (East Berlin), which were the districts that were attracting punks from a much wider area than the Berlin city space, and in which later many punk-related subcultures and cultural outlets emerged and blossomed.
